My dad had a heart replacement when he was 11 and he hasn't had a checkup about for about 10 years should he get one or does it not matter?

Yes: Unless told and cleared by a cardiologist that no additional followup is needed, all cardiac patients with transplant or surgical intervention should remain in long term chronic followup. Besides in office evaluation, repeat imaging such as echocardiogram or other modalities may need to be repeated for long term assessment.

Transplant or valve?: if he had either, he should be followed regularly by a cardiologist.
