Why on PPI?: The first question I would ask is why are you taking a PPI? PPIs essentially elimate stomach acidity but do not prevent ongoing reflux of stomach contents and there may be a structural problem such as an esophageal hernia that was causing the reflux or more rarely an esophageal stricture. Either way, if your are experiencing weight loss due to early satiety, you should see a gastroenterologist.

I recently started a Proton Pump Inhibitor for my acid reflux that happens almost after every meal. My doctor is hoping that it will heal the esophagus in 4 weeks to prevent further acid reflux. How likely is the healing going to fix the issue?
