What is the difference between a nurse anesthetist and an anesthesiologist? which is better in labor?

Education!: Physician anesthesiologists have graduated from medical school and done another 4 years of special residency training. Nurse anesthetists are rns with 2 years of anesthesia training. In a majority of states, nurse anesthetists can practice only under physician supervision. Make sure a physician anesthesiologist is available in any event for labor or a c-section. Good luck!

See below : An anesthesiologist is a doctor. They have a 4 yr college degree, 4 yrs of medical school and 4 trs of anesthesia residency. A crna is an advance practice nurse. They have a 4 yr degree followed by several years work experience and 2 years schooling in anesthesia. Either is fine.
