Is it normal to cough up blood after a jaw fixation operation?

Yes: Whether for trauma or for orthognathic purposes, jaw surgery with fixation will often result in postoperative mucosal bleeding, but it should slow down over a few days. If it is bright red or increasing, call your surgeon ASAP.

Yes: Minor post-operative bleeding is to be expected. That said, call your Surgeon NOW to discuss your situation. Additional Rx may be indicated.
