Talk to your doc: Breast development is often the first sign that puberty is starting in females, and the period usually follows in about 2 years. While 9 is technically within the range of normal for starting periods, you should talk to your doctor about the fact that she is developed enough to need a training bra. Something besides normal puberty may be going on! Good luck!

Not necessarily: It depends. Concern about precocious puberty is very valid. Stages of development and when it occurs vary from child to child. There are some genetic factor (e.g. if you developed early, your child might too). Besides secondary sex characteristics, other factors e.g. weight & height growth also need to be considered. If concern, consider seeing a pediatric endocrinologist & speak w/pediatrician
