Get seen: There are different causes of testicular pain,even if you cannot feel a lump. It is hard to say what is causing your pain but causes include:inguinal hernia,epididymitis,urinary tract stone,varicocele and others.Torsion would not apply to you as you are 44 and it is extremely unlikely at 44. Please go to a doctor to be examined,diagnosed and treated.Best of luck.
