A member asked:

I read eye pressure (iop) is usually highest in the morning. for a day sleeper, is this the case after waking (ie. afternoon), or is it morning hours for everyone regardless of sleep schedule?

It fluctuates: IOP measurements fluctuate throughout the day. For most patients, pressure is highest in the morning, but that’s not always the case, there may be spikes of pressure in the afternoon and also in the evening, probably regardless of their sleeping schedule.

Diurnal vsriation: Eye pressure varies with the sleep cycle not the time of the day. Pressure is highest during REM cycle of sleep. This is known as Diurnal variation.
