A member asked:

I've got torticollis, my doctor says. is it just a muscle spasm; nothing dangerous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Toricollis vs spasm: Torticollis refers of a persistent/prolonged muscle spasms of the neck causing reduced movement and sometime pain. It could be the muscle itself or caused by underlying neurologic cause. Muscle spasm can occur anywhere, but when persisting on the neck muscle is then termed torticollis. If you just have this recently, then likely will resolve with supportive care. Consult doc if worsens. Good luck.
