SARS: Severe acute respiratory syndrome in 2003 was caused by a beta coronavirus called SARS-CoV. It might have originated in Chinese horseshoe bats with masked palm civets acting as an intermediate host. The COVID 19 pandemic is associated with SARS-CoV-2 and might also be associated with bats.
