It is: Severe acute respiratory syndrome. There were outbreaks in Hong Kong in 2003. It is like the flu and you can die from it. For the last 11 years no worries about it.

SARS: SARS = Severe acute respiratory syndrome. There was an outbreak of SARS- CoV virus in 2003 in Asia. In 2019 there was an outbreak of SARS- CoV -2 (another beta coronavirus) which began in China. Although SARS has disappeared, the SAR-CoV-2 virus has caused the current COVID 19 pandemic.
