A member asked:

With 8 negative pregnancy tests, can a cat scan detect pregnancy at 11 weeks while someone is on the pill?

Likely not pregnant: With 8 negative pregnancy tests you are likely not pregnant. An 11 week old fetus would definitely be seen on CT scan, but exposure to that much radiation is not good for a fetus. Ultrasound would be the imaging tool of choice.

Save your money!: The best test for determining if you are pregnant is a lab test to measure HCG levels in your blood. It is a quick and simple test that can be ordered at your doctor's office. CT/CAT scans are contraindicated/not indicated if someone is possibly pregnant due to the radiation exposure involved in the test.
