Location dependent: Cancer on the surface of the eye will cause swelling and redness with some discharge. Cancer of the retina (mostly melanoma) may affect vision and can cause inflammation in the eye. Another frequent type is metastatic usually from breast, lung or prostate. A few rare cancers may invade the interior of the eye or cause nodules on the iris. And the most common are skin cancers of the lids.
