Bloating: 1. if you talk too much or yell try and minimize those behaviors. 80% of gas in our bowel is what we swallow 2. Pass gas: the best way is not to hold it; just let it out! some of the best approaches is to lie down with your left side down and your buttocks slightly up and let the gas come out 3. At least once a day sit on the toilet (after a meal) and have a bowel movement. Take MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol)

Hydration and fiber: You may need to increase the frequency with which you take your stool softeners. You can try miralax (polyethylene glycol) that draws more water into your colon to soften your stool. If you have chronic constipation take it 1-2 times daily instead of reacting to no bowel movement for 1-2 days. Simethicone or Gas-ex may help for gas. High fiber foods, hydration and exercise should also help. Good luck!

Previous surgery?: If you have had previous abdominal surgery you need to be seen, you may have an obstruction. Any severe pain or vomiting even without previous surgery warrants evaluation by a doctor.
