I'm 42 and wanted to have a baby again, however, i was diagnosed 12yrs ago of having a benign microadenoma in my pituitary gland. what do you suggest?

Dr. Hanford Yau answered

Specializes in Endocrinology

Further evaluation: A benign microadenoma should be re-evaluated if it has not been for the past 12 years. Evaluation should include MRI of the pituitary and biochemical evaluation of all pituitary hormones. If pituitary hormones are not deficit, you should be able to conceive. Prolactin levels will rise with pregnancy, and medication such as bromocriptine will need to be stopped. Must have an endocrinologist.
