Cellulitis : If area increasing in redness, warmth, swelling there is a good chance an abscess is forming. If it feels like you have a lot of pressure under the skin then it may need to be lanced. Pus formation does better if draining away from the body. Keep warm damp compresses to area as well.

Yes, probably.: If it is getting larger, red and swollen, yes. In addition, if it is not getting better within 24-36 hrs of starting the Keflex, you may need a second antibiotic because it could be MRSA - if you are not allergic to sulfa, you may need Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) DS, as well. If your temperature gets > 100.4 F you may need to be seen again, you may even need iv antibiotics.

Possibly: Generally rec to see patient again in two days for follow up. Sometimes need a second antibiotic. Sometimes needs to be lanced. Draw a circle with a sharpe around the red borders of skin to see if it's getting bigger

Hard advise : Hard to tell without seeing it. If it's worse or hasn't improved by tomorrow, I'd be seen again.

Stick with it: Two doses isn't quite enough to determine whether the drug is not working for you. It can take a few days to notice an improvement. Also, it really can only be lanced if the pus underneath the hair is soft and easily lanced and drained. If it is still rather firm, lancing it would not really provide much help or relief.Warm compresses to the area may help prepare it to be lanced or drain on its own

Maybe: If you see streaking, increasing pain or surrounding redness, then you should seek care immediately. Otherwise, you can continue the Keflex and use a warm compress to bring the abscess to the surface to drain naturally. There may be another cause of your low grade fever.

Ingrown hair: The most concerning fever threshold is a temperature of 101.5 or more, but a temperature of 100.5 means we have to watch closely. When a temperature is below 100.5 after only two doses of Keflex, it's too early to judge whether lancing will be needed. A steady trend of increasing temperature and/or spreading redness despite antibiotics are signs that a recheck is needed.
