Misinformed?: If using protection that covers the infected area you don't have to wait. But the more important thing here is that having sores does not in any way correlate to contagiousness. Everything about herpes changed five years ago when we learned that herpes viral shedding is not predictable and has no correlation to outbreaks. You are just as contagious without a sore as you may be with a sore.
