Ultrasound is: not really capable of diagnosing hormonal imbalances, that requires blood tests. Ultrasound could detect the effects of various hyperstimulation or deficiency states, but the appearance is usually not specific, and diagnosis requires additional clinical and lab data. Transvaginal ultrasound can potentially detect a gestational sac during the 4th week.
