Yes: Secondary hyperparathyroidism can also be caused by low calcium and/or low magnesium intake, even with adequate intake, poor digestion (poor pancreas function, certain liver problems, etc.) or poor nutrient absorption (celiac disease, intestinal removal or bypass, etc.) can lead to deficiency.
