Laxatives: It is not necessarily "bad" to take laxatives when menstruating, as most commercial laxatives are gentle and do not cause a problem if constipation is present. Many women feel bloated with the onset of their period, which is not caused by constipation, but is simply reaction to the lower levels of hormones at the time of your period. Unnecessary use of laxatives can irritate your intestines.
