Bladder Infection: First you have to get the cause of the pain diagnosed. Cramping abdominal pain is usually a urinary tract infection.

Ibuprofen is safe: You should also consult with your OB/GYN to let her know that you are having uterine contractions when you breast feed as well. Although very common, and physiologically necessary in the post partum period. Your reproductive organs become more resistant to the effects of oxytocin over time while breastfeeding so the cramps should lessen in severity.
