Contact your MD: Once a period is missed it could either be secondary to not ovulating that cycle and therefore the next period is heavy, or another possibility is an early miscarriage. Lab tests including a pregnancy test and blood count to be sure there is no anemia is always a good idea when there is heavy bleeding.
