An ultrasound: A fetal echocardiogram is just a detailed ultrasound of your baby's heart. The ultrasound will be done with the ultrasound transducer on your abdomen, using a lot of gel. It may take 30-60 minutes for the ultrasonographer to take all the pictures that he or she needs.
