Difficult to tell: On some occasions, if discharge is due to an infection, you may have some other accompanying symptoms, such as irritation/itching/burning, pain, etc. However, there are many cases where an infection may only manifest itself with just discharge. The only way to know for sure is to be tested. See your doctor at your earliest convenience. An untreated STI can cause serious long term problems.
