Addiction: By definition, addiction means doing something unnatural or anti-social to gain a drug that is not taken for its intended purpose. Patients with genuine pain get tolerant to drugs but rarely addicted. Running out of a prescription early and using more than prescribed dose are most common signs of drug abuse (or diversion). Selling it is also unlawful and using someone else's meds is unlawful too.
