Excellent survival: Omphalocele is a defect in the abdominal wall (hernia) in which the baby's internal organs are enclosed in a thin sac outside of the body. The survival rate is excellent providing the baby has prompt treatment by a pediatric surgeon immediately after delivery to return the organs to the abdomin and repair the hernia in order to prevent infection
