Depends on what: the problem is. For instance - if someone had a gangrenous leg - infection could spread in the body and lead to death. A deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that could form in a deep leg vein. If part of the clot breaks off it could travel to the lungs & cause a pulmonary embolism (which is potentially lethal).
