Dr. Lori Semel answered

Specializes in Pediatrics

Tibial torsion: the most common reason for "bowlegging" is known as tibial torsion. It is a turn in the larger bone of the lower leg. This is without consequence and as your child matures into his childhood, his legs will straighten and he will learn to compensate. It is wise to check with an orthopedist, to be sure there is no hip involvement.
