Probably no: Untreated PCV typically causes problems with thrombotic events (venous blood clots, strokes, heart attacks) long before it transitions to AML, Radioactive phosphorus and some chemotherapy are thought to increase this risk of transition to AML. Therefore, being diagnosed late my make it less likely that PCV will transition to AML.
