Should be but...: Group a streptococcus, causative organism of strep throat, is sensitive to penicillin, amoxicillin, and cephalosporins including cefzil (cefprozil). Cefzil (cefprozil) costs higher than amoxicillin, however, its efficacy against strep throat is not any higher. 5-day course of Cefdinir has been known very effective.
