Yes, but: Occassional the volvulus can be resolved with a barium enema xray or with a colonoscope, however they will most often recur and ultimately will probably require surgical correction. In either case it should be managed and supervised by a surgeon.

Yes; poor results.: Treatment that does not remove the right colon is associated with a very high recurrence rate. While colon resection does have risks that must be considered, there is a significant mortality rate seen with repeat volvulus.
