A member asked:

What do you suggest if my child is 15, we went to the doctor and her bp was 140/56. is this ok?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High blood pressure: This is a very high reading for anyone, particularly a 15 year old child. The top number (systolic) should be 120 or less. If your child was nervous about being in the office, this could have elevated the blood pressure - the doctor might want to repeat it again in a few weeks. If she is overweight, this would be a good time to adopt healthy eating and exercise.
