Not a specific test: The sedimentation rate is not a specific diagnostic test for anything. It is often used to follow some diseases but not diagnostic by itself. It needs to be coupled with a complete history and physical exam and other diagnostic tests.

Ask your doctor: who knows what they were looking for since a sed rate is a very nonspecific and just indicates inflammation of any type.
