Different uses: Lipitor (atorvastatin) is a "statin" - it is a high potency cholesterol lowering drug. Plavix is an anti-platelet drug. Platelets initiate clotting. Plavix is used to prevent clots on stents. and after recent heart attack or recent stroke.
