A member asked:

What to do if i am 17 yrs old w/ lymphedema. if i was to have kids in the future will they have lymohedema too.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely no, but...: Hereditary lymphedema is extremely rare, and this would be the type that if you had it you kids could potentially be affected . The question for your doctor is "why do I have lymphedema/" Are you obese? Was there trauma or illness/infection that caused it. Do you have some type of vascular problem. If they tell you it is hereditary, I would consult with a geneticist to talk about odds in your kids
