A member asked:

What happens if someone is referred to as "developmentally delayed" does that mean they will eventually catch up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sometimes...: Human development encompasses many areas: learning, language, motor skills, social skills, cognitive skills, etc. Sometimes certain situations during pregnancy or early childhood create a "delay" in 1 or many of these areas. Therapy with specialists can help greatly improve these problems. How much the person "catches up" depends on many factors like age and if other medical problems are present
