A root canal: Shouldn't involve pain, discuss the analgesia with your dentist

It depends: A root canal tx. Is usually painless unless there is a lot of infection involved which will make getting anesthetized more difficult and subsequently cause more discomfort.

No difference: Despite common concerns a root canal treatment is not painful. Fortunately, with modern dentistry, the root canal procedure, regardless molar or a front tooth, treatment or re-treatment is painless. Good luck.
