Some influence: There exists about 4% risk of any kid with a CHD having an offspring with some sort of CHD, but not necessarily the same one. Two parents with some CHD would have about 8% risk of offspring of some CHD. There are rare inherited syndromes that have a defect as part of their pattern, but these make up few of the overall numbers.Rare syndromes have higher recurrence risk.
