Depends: This hopefully should have been discussed with you by your surgeon. A seton drain is used to drain an abscess. Depending on the type of abscess and the type of drain procedure used, the time from insertion to healing can be as long as 2 months, or more. You should have scheduled follow-up with your surgeon for wound evaluation and further care.
