Normal: The pregnancy hormone progesterone weakens the ligaments and joints in the pelvis thus lessening the ability of the pelvis to support the rest of the body. Also during pregnancy as your belly gets bigger your center of gravity shifts forward and your posture will change. Furthermore, weight gain places added strain on back muscles and all these factors cumulatively lead to back pain in pregnancy.
