Among others...: Make sure they are getting culture and sensitivity done on the bacteria your father is infected with to make sure they stand the best chance of picking an effective regimen of antibiotics. Ask about adverse reactions to the antibiotics he is taking, as doctors often have to use more toxic regimens with medication-resistant bacteria.
