Yes: There are many different strains of flu that change seasonally and from year to year. 2 years ago I had the flu twice in one season (Flu B & later Flu A). You should get a flu vaccine every year, typically in September or October.

Flu, yes: Flu has so many viral variants and you run the risk of getting flu if you do not take vaccination for the type of virus in circulation. You may not get infected with the strain you had as youngster, but there are many more strains in circulation and taking vaccine is a good thing.

Yes: The "flu" you had when you were 11 or 12 may not have been the swine flu but some other flu looking like swine flu. Call your family physician and set up a flu shot when the season is appropriate in your part of Texas. Flu shots are safe & effective & good insurance for not becoming ill.
