Can you have an ezcema breakout when you are pregnant?

Yes: These 2 conditions are independent of one another. The usual creams for dry skin are safe to use during pregnancy. The topical steroids are also safe. Antihistamines are greatly over-rated as therapy for eczema but are safe except for the sedating effects of the older ones such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine).

Yes.: Eczema, or atopic dermatitis, is not unusual and can occur for the first time during pregnancy. I has been called "atopic eruption of pregnancy". It can be triggered by environmental irritants; stress makes it worse; tends to run in families. Consult a dermatologist before using any remedies, as even medications and over the counter preparations applied to the skin may affect your unborn baby.
