A member asked:

My bilirubin levels are total 1.12 ,direct 0.16 and indirect 0.96.it is specified that indirect bilirubin should be within 0.0 to 0.6.is it dangerous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Whoa: First, this is a very low top for the reference range for indirect bilirubin. Second, reference isn't the "should be" range, but a measure of a population, set so that several percent of healthy people will fall outside. Third, I've raised my indirect bilirubin by hemolsis from strenuous exercise. You might also have Gilbert's. If you have no other indicator of ill-health, forget about this stuff
