i got cpr and bls certified today. is it normal to feel really out of breath after performing compressions for five cycles?

Yes.: Most people feel out if breath after 1 cycle of 100 good compressions. Good job on doing 5 sets! Not sure why you had to do so many? Your breathing however should quickly return to baseline, if it's not have someone drive you to the closest ER or call EMS/911.

AHA protocol : Compression rate 100 to 130 per minute. Give 6 to 8 breaths per minute.
