Peanut vs hazelnut allergy--same cause?

Nuts are different: Peanuts and hazelnuts are not the same. Peanuts are a legume and hazelnuts are tree nuts. If you are allergic to one, you will not necessarily be allergic to the other, but if you have several food allergies involving nuts, hazelnut and peanut should both be part of your skin test or blood test evaluation

Distinct: The two allergic reactions are distinct, however individuals who are food allergic may have one or more food allergies. Panel testing is available as a blood test or as a skin prick test. Avoid foods that trigger an allergic reaction and take an antihistamine if a reaction is suspected. Please follow up with you physician.
