Buck up!: You have to make the decision that you know that sweets are going to make you gain weight and that you can't eat them (harsh). Cut out all obvious sugars in your diet like cakes, candies, cookies; and consider it a relative success when you lose 1 pound a month (easier). Make a concerted effort to find sources of carbs, and substitute them with choices you can live with for a lifetime (do-able).
