What is mono? how do you get it?

Mononucleosis: Mononucleosis is a viral infection. It can cause fatigue, swollen lymph glands, fever or sore throat. It goes away by itself- no treatment is needed and antibiotics won't help. It can be spread by close contact, including kissing and sharing a glass or utensil. See your doctor if you feel you may have mono. A simple blood test can help determine if that is true.

Saliva: Mono is usually caused by the EB virus and for many it will happen as an unremarkable viral infection in early to mid childhood.If so you would be immune. If not, adolescent or adult mono tends to be more intense and lengthy.It can pass through the saliva of asymptomatic persons either through direct or indirect contact.
