Bloodwork: Usually a "basic metabolic panel", a type of blood sample, can measure most relevant electrolytes in the blood. This will also give an impression on the amount of fluid effectively circulating throughout the body. A few more measurements include urine & stool output, intravenous intake, dietary intake, & urine electrolytes & osmolality.
