Spinal cord: The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular bundle of nervous tissue and support cells that extends from the brain down to the space between the first and second lumbar vertebrae. Nerves branch off the SC that innervate other body regions/parts. Depending on the extent of the injury and the time frame at which the injury is tended to will depend on the ability for the area to heal, if at all.
