Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD: The Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD is designed to protect you from pregnancy for up to 5 years. It sounds like the progesterone in it is just not having an effect anymore, so your premenstrual symptoms are more pronounced than before. It does not sound like anything to worry about. You do need to consider what you will do for contraception now. It is time to talk to your doctor about that.
